Air Quality Assessments

Land-use planning can play a critical role in improving local air quality. At the strategic level, spatial planning can provide for more sustainable transport links between the home, workplace, educational, retail and leisure facilities and identify appropriate locations for potentially polluting industrial development. For an individual development proposal, there may be associated emissions from transport or combustion processes providing heat and power.

Quantum Air provides air quality assessments to support planning applications proportionate to the impacts of proposed developments, from screening assessments to detailed technical reporting and drafting of Environmental Statement Chapters where the scheme requires Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

In addition to considerations regarding the general suitability of a site for development, our Air Quality assessments can also consider the direct and indirect impacts of the proposed development, including Habitats Regulations Assessments and Emission Mitigation Statements.

Quantum Air also provides post-planning support for developments, assisting Developers in discharging planning conditions and calculating Damage Cost Contribution requirements.

Where appropriate, our studies are informed by baseline monitoring of existing pollutant levels and computational dispersion modelling to assess the potential significance of future impacts.
